La Gamella is located in a beautiful aristocratic building on Alfonso XII right by Retiro park. Jose Ortega y Gasset, the Spanish philosopher, was born in this wonderful house in the heart of the Spanish capital.
Our restaurant is on the first floor with a seperat private dining room in our wine cellars.
You enter the restaurant through an inviting bar and the reception area. A class door leads you to the main room and downstairs you will find a separate room for private dining in the style of a wine-cave. This room holds seats for 8-12 people and is available upon reservation. Next to the storage of our best wines this room also contains three pictures by the American photographer Christine Redina.
Monday to Friday we serve lunch from 13.30 until 16.00 and in the evenings we are open from 21.00. We have got a lunch offer for 19.50 € and dinner starts at around 18 € per main course.
Our guests visit us for our excellent meals and our tempting selection of Spanish wines - of course - but they also come for the atmosphere of the restaurant.
During lunch hours the sunlight reflects from the green of the trees through the high windows into the dining room. And at night the spacious yet cosy main room with its high ceiling has what some of our guests describe as the atmosphere of a private and friendly club.
It is the perfect place for an after business dinner or for spending some time with a special person.
